Defend Iacon served as a pivotal project where I mastered the art of creative alignment and environmental scale. I discovered that articulating a clear 'gameplay purpose' for every space was the key to unifying a cross-functional team behind a single vision. By strategically scaling architecture and environmental assets, I transformed standard combat corridors into an 'epic' experience that captured the massive industrial scale of Cybertron.

Key Contributions:

  • Vision & Leadership: Directed the end-to-end creative process, from paper design and BSP block-outs to final art passes, ensuring gameplay integrity was maintained through every iteration.

  • Environmental Scaling: Re-architected level geometry and modular sets to elevate the sense of scale, creating the 'epic' atmosphere required for a high-stakes defensive mission.

  • Technical Orchestration: Led collaborations with technical designers to manage complex combat encounters, streaming states, and memory optimization within the Unreal pipeline.

  • Cinematic & Audio Direction: Coordinated with animators, cinematic designers, and audio engineers to synchronize high-impact vignettes and VO implementation with the mission’s pacing.

  • Driving Consistency: Partnered with concept and level artists to define the visual language of the mission before the final art pass, ensuring a cohesive look and feel.
