Role: Lead Gameplay Designer

Engine: Frostbite

Studio: Visceral Games

Team Size: 150+

Joining as the 10th member of the development team, I played a foundational role in scaling the game to nearly 200 developers. Over a 2.5-year production cycle, I served as a central design leader, bridging the gap between high-level mechanics vision and the granular 'second-to-second' feel. I specialized in collaborating with level pods to ensure our core systems—from AI to traversal—integrated seamlessly into a premier cinematic experience.

Leadership & Strategic Oversight:

  • Cross-Studio Management: Directed the gameplay mechanics vision for a 30-person team across two global studios, aligning creative goals with technical feasibility.

  • Systems Architecture: Reviewed, approved, and guided the end-to-end production for all core systems, including Enemy/Companion AI, melee takedowns, weapons, gadgets, and camera/cover logic.

  • Production Planning: Partnered with executive leadership and producers to architect production roadmaps and present critical gameplay updates to studio stakeholders.

  • Studio Growth: Actively participated in the hiring and culture-building for the Visceral and Motive design teams during the project’s rapid expansion.

  • Operational Excellence: Identified and resolved cross-functional workflow bottlenecks, optimizing the pipeline between programming, animation, and design.
